Sometimes Qigong (read as Chi Kung) which is said to be medicine that uses energy is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
According to TCM, the crucial internal energy known as qi (pronounce as chi) flow in our bodies. Qi is the fundamentals of life itself - it is the centre of life cycle, birth, oldness, sickness and death.
To the Chinese, sickness does not start with symptoms or signs, but it starts with disturbances of the flow of energy (Qi) through the meridian system in our body. The disturbances cause the weakened or slowed blood flow which affects the respiration system and other flows malfunction.
Qigong - is the fine technique of movement which involved rhythms, symmetry movements and complement with control of deep breathing - is created to ensure the flow of energy into a normal state.
Qi is not only found in our body. It is found also in everything in the universe, hence there comes the "natural breathing". Qigong exercises harmonized "natural breathing" and qi within a person. It controls the flow of blood and increases the living energy in a form that will uplift our health and welfare.
Qigong can heal many illnesses which span from emotional imbalances and constipation to chronic diseases like coronary heart and cancel. Clinical sciences have proved that constant practices of Qigong can remove bacteria which causes illness from our body and increase immunity of a patient.
Due to its function that will increase the internal living energy by increasing the flow of blood and qi, it has much similarities with massage and acupuncture, two alternative treatment that had gained recognition of medical practitioners. While acupuncture involves injection of needles and massage involves pressure on certain points, in Qigong we move our body to activate qi.
Actually, Qigong does not overcome sickness, but it suits and keeps the functions of our bodies in a normal state in order to make it more effective. However, we should remember that even Qigong has proved itself to be effective in healing and preventing illnesses, it is not a solution to all problems. Just as other sciences, it is not absolute. It operates in a provided boundary and should be practice in a predetermined process.
Although those who think that Qigong cannot cure or prevent illnesses are not right, neither those who praised it overly to the divine level.
